Writing: Computer or by hand?

Compare and contrast time!

Remember what we did in class with M&Ms and gum?

I want you to compare writing by computer to writing by hand. THEN, contrast writing by computer to writing by hand. As always, details and support, please. You may become the next class example!

Remember to use BOTH and YET in your explanation.

I like using the computer because on a computer you can get to things fater and it does not waste a poor harmless tree! also i would rather use a computer because it doesn't take as long as writing your blog.

READ MY FIRST MRS.DEMBINSKI
I would pick the computer because it more easier for me to type then it is to write.Writing by hand is tiring and it get boring. When it come to the computer it not has hard to type it up then to write it up.When you write by hand it seem to be harder to me but with computer when the answer come to mind I type it down.Yet both are the same to me only by that you are still putting down an answer. So both of them and the same by little BUT THEY HAVE A BIG DIFERENCE!

There are a few similarities between writing by hand and using a computer. Writing by hand and using the computer are both the same because you are getting your thoughts down on paper. They are also similar because you are using dexterity, the skill and ease to use your hands.

Writing by hand and typing also has a lot of differences. They are both different because you are using a pencil and a piece of paper to write by hand, but a computer to type. They are also different because there is a backspace key when you mess up but with writing you need to use an eraser,or scribble it out with a pen. When you right by hand there is no spell check that makes it easy you have to look it up in a dictionary, using a computer you can always use spell check. Writing seems to hurt you hands and fingers more than typing does, and you can be more relaxed while your typing be cause you are never “hunched” over like you are when you write.

Computers today are a lot more common so you are seeing typing going on then writing. So writing on a piece of paper is basically “over rated”.

Writing by Computer or by hand has many similarities and differences. The Computer is with a Key board and a screen. But on the other side writing by hand you use paper and pencil. If you want to help the trees you rather use the Computer. Both ways you have to write the story or the paragraph. Yet some peole are faster by tipping then writing by hand. When someone has a bad hand writing the Computer will help make it better readable.
Some people can read better in tipping then in hand writing. Something writen by hand can look more personal.

Writing witha computer and by hand have very many similarites and differences. They are similar by you have to use your hands for both. They are also the same by you have to use thoughts to write wat you want to write about. They are also the same because know matter how you would turn it into to someone or keep it to your side your useing a tree to put it on paper.
They are different by when you write with pencil and paper you have to be extra carfull not to make mistakes as in when you use the computer now these days you have spell check. They are also dfiffernet by when you type ont he computer you have to just hit the back space button and when you write with pencil and paper u have to udjust your whole body just to erase one mistake.

I would rather write by hand because it is more accurate and you can look up the words by yourself and make sure they are right. It may take longer but the words are in your own hands. it can be alot simpler by the computer and computers are electric and if the power goes out you got to start all over.

both choices are very diffrent and very simaler like that you do have a paragraph ether way so it doesn't to me but the reason i use the computer is because i would so lose the paper and have like an f instead of my natural good grades (if you don't think i have good grades then let me see your report card mmmmm!)but like that if i when to write i would be done faster because it still takes time to log on turn it on when you use the computer but when you write you have use paper and pencil BOOM you are 50% compelete is it magic no it fast but like i said i use the computer because i am UNRELIABLE ok so weehoo technology

Anonymous said...

well there are very few similareites between using a computer or your hands to wright.

some of those very few similaries are that you are still putting your thoughts into words, they are also the same by whitch you are still use paper
the differences between using your hands or your computer to write are that you are using technology to type the wrightng and with the pencil all you are using is a peice of paper and a pencil. another difference is that if you are typing it it will most likley go faster.

The things that both computures and writing by and is that they both exersizes the hand. They also both help your writing skills.
Some of the differences that both computures and writing by hand is that on the computure you can backspace and do spell check. When writing by hand you have to either use white out or eraser, and you also dont know how to spell a word you would have to use a dictionary in stead of word check.
Me personaly woul prefer a computurebecause it is easyer to work.

Writing on the computer and writing on paper have a few things in common. First of all, they both involve the usage of your hands which write down, or type, your thoughts. Like the computer, writing on paper involves the skill to use your mind and write.
There are also many different charecteristics about the computer and paper. Unlike writing on paper, the computer allows you to change font, do a spell check, and many other helpful things, wheras on paper, you would have to look up words in a dictionary. Computers have screens and keyboards, ofcourse, while pencil is used for paper instead.
Most people prefer computer obviously because it is a quicker, more efficient way to write.

Writing by hand and by computer have many similarities.

When you use your computer, your fingers don’t get as sore and the writing is neater.

Writing with a pencil is also neat (i.e. if you have neat handwriting) and pencils are easy to locate.

Computers are different from writing with pencils, by not having lead smear. Also using a computer saves time. Plus, pencils use up our resources.

Pencils are different from computers, because they don’t use electricity. Also they are not expensive.

I like to use computers over writing in hand anyday. Using a computer, you can get thing's done alot faster. For exampe doing these blogs I get them done really fast because Im a fast typer, but when I do writing prompts it takes a little longer, because Ill have to go back and erase if I mess something up. But on a comuter all I have to do is hit a simple button. When you type on the computer your hands dont hurt after awhile, but when you write things down your hands get cramps and you might have to stop for few seconds. When you use the computer you have spell check, but when you write with your hand you have to rely on how smart your brain is with spelling. Thats why I would choose the computer over writing in hand.

I' rather use a computer because if you forget something on paper and get it on computer you can show your teacher on the computer. You can also write a song faster on computer than on paper, but it can easily get lost like a piece of paper can.

Dembinski said...

Please be sure to read the prompt: it says to COMPARE and CONTRAST the two. Some of you are misguidedly choosing to pick one over the other (even though you are doing some comparing or contrasting).

These would be considered off topic by official scorers.

BTW, I am very proud of the extended responses you wrote about the invasive species today. BRAVO!

Have a good day tomorrow with the sub.

If I had write by computer or hand I would choose by computer. Computer is easier to write with because if your not wasting tree`s and people wory about the enviorment and wan to keep it safe. The difference between computer and hand is you write with an pencil and on paper and computer you are typing. Also different because when you mess up you use an earser when you write and when you type on the computer and mess up you use the backspace. Some similarities are the same because you are puting your thoughts on paper and on computer and you print it out and it is on paper.

Writing by computer and writing by hand are similar, but yet they have their differences. Writing by hand takes patience beacuse you have to form each letter with percise curves and lines. Like with the letter "d", you have to form a curve and a line. If you are on the computer, with the push of a button, it's done for you. When you write by hand, you need to either now how to spell a word, or look it up in the dictionary. On the coputer you can use spell check. Writing on a computer can also be harder. When you need to make an exclamation point, for example, you need to hold on to the shift key and the hit the button with the mark. On paper, you just draw it.

They also have their similarities. You can both get your ideas down quick when you need to. And the outcome will be the same: words on paper.

It is mainly a choice of preferance between paper and pencil, and the computer. Your outcome will not change, all though the way you start it will!!

i would rather write on the computer because its waayy faster and it takes less work.
writing by hand if you make a mistake you have to flip the pencil around and erase and if you write dark your a outa luckk or if your writing in peen it will be all scribbly even if you use white out it will still look messy in my opinion beacuse you will have a white blob sticking off the pagee.
if you make a mistake on the computer all you have to do ic click the backspace button and click and put the cursor wherever you want to erase, or you simply wont need to erase beacuse most people have spellcheck. thatts why i prefer the computer.

Writting On the computer is esier for many me it isn`t but many people think it is better. I guess wring on the computer is more green because it does not kill trees when you write on it. they are the same because you will get the same result in the end because it will be a finished product.

There are many similarities and differences for the computer and hand writing it. The computer and writing it by hand both use words but one has a keyboard and the other one you have to use a pencil. Between writing by hand and typing on a computer there are many differences and many similarities.
Writing by hand and typing on the computer both take skill and patience. Both take time and effort and also include writing. Writing by hand is messy and you can not tell when you make a spelling mistake or grammar error but writing on the computer you have a spell check and also a grammar check.Writing by hand takes a long time. When writhing by hand you use a pencil and have a piece of paper in front of you but when typing on the computer you have a screen and a key board. When writing on a piece of paper, if you think about it you are wasting a hopeless tree that we use to breath.Yet writing on the computer you are saving your hard work on a hard drive. As you can see writing on a computer or a a piece of paper, they both have difference and similarities.

Well to write on the computor and writ by hand is almost the same thing but if you write on a keyboard and then you have the letters right infront of you and then all you need is to tuch them and it comes out a letter but if you write by hand you have to get a pencil or a pen and put it in your hand and start wriing your letters and you have to think what letter it is and if you write longer by hand it will start hurt but if you write a long time on the computor it wont start hurrting after a long time.

CF400 said...

i can't think of any similarities besides you use words and letters with both, and you can get cramps using them.
on the computer side: you can change the font, font style, and font size; fix a mistake fast; and it's good for the enviornment since you don't use paper.
on the p&p(paper & pencil) side: there's no such thing as font, you write in your handwriting; you don't relize a mistake right away(if not ever); and..... well, i mean ,isn't it like 5 sheets per tree, or something, it can't be good for nature.

Writing by computer or by hand have similarities like that both you can buy at the store and they are both educational.
Now the differences with computers are that you can type faster then you can write so you will get what ever it is your doing done faster plus you can change color of your letters on the computer(Lime Green!!).Also you can AIM your friends while your typing on the computer.
Finally the differences with writing by hand. I believe that writing by hand is more educational and it wont effect your eyes like the computer will. Hand writing is also good to have because some kids in America hardly even know how to write there own name.
In conclusion I would think computers are faster, cleaner ,and technological. I would choose computers over hand writing any day!!

Typing on a computer and writing by hand are just a way to get something on paper, but there are some differences, like typing on a computer is a faster way to get something on paper. Writing by hand is difficult because it has to be able to be read and it sometimes hurts your hand. I perfer to use the computer because it saves it on a harddrive and it takes less time.

sh100 said...

Writing by hand and writing on the computer are the same in the way that you still have to know how to punctuate your sentences. You have to know how to set up a proper way to structure your paragraphs. Both wringing by hand and writing on the computer you are thinking of the same things to write down. Writing on the computer is a faster way that doesn’t take as much time as writing by hand. Writing on the computer is more legible than writing by hand.

Writing on the computer and writing by hand have some differences and yet they have some similarities.

Some similarities between writing on the computer and writing on a piece of paper by hand is that you have to us e your hands to type and to write. Both ways you still have to put your thoughts in to the writing.
Some differences between writing by hand and by typing on the computer is that when you type on the computer, all you have to do is push a button and the letter, number, and or symbol is all done for you in a blink of an eye. Yet when you write on paper, you have to write so that people can know what word or letter you wrote. So when you write on paper you have to make it very clear when on a computer you can just push a button and your done. Another difference between the two are that on a computer you can change the color way faster and the font, but to make it short when you type on the computer you can be more creative with all the icons.

Using a computer or writing by hand are very different but they can also be used for the same things. You can write on both and redo your mistakes too yet, on the computer you don't have to hold a pencil or use an eraser as opposed to writing it out you have a messy peice of paper with erase marks on it. When it comes to getting things done faster, I would go with the computer which is much easier.

as300 said...

The computer and writing by hand are similar because they are used to get things finished and to blog. On both you can write, yet it may take a while to write by hand. On a computer you can get things done quicker and easier, whereas writing by hand, it takes longer to get things done. Plus you are harming the enviorment. The computer you can eraser your mistakes by simply hitting the backspace opposed to having messy eraser marks or rips on a peice of paper.

As you can see there are more differences than there are similarities and the computer seems like a better way to get something finished.

There are many similarites and differences on writing with computer and by hand. one similarity is that computers and writing by hand both can help you acomplish tasks. Another is that you can use both to send letters.

There are many differences too! Such as using a computer you can send letters alot faster than writing by hand, and paying for a stamp to send it to someone or somewhere. Writing by hand you don't know if you missed spelled something but you can tell on the computer that you missed spelled something because the computer puts a red line under neath the word that is missed spelled.

There are many more similarties and differnces about using computers and writng by hand.

the difference between writing on the computer and writing my hand is that on the computer you can typ fast and you know that the handwriting will be neat and easy to read also you save trees and you also can have a hole bunch of pappers saved in files and wityh a laptop you can carry all of them with you in a convenient like 5lb. peice of technolgy

but when you writ on papper you waste trees and with some people you cant read there writing so theres reely no point in you reading it but then say you are a teacher and you have to grade pappers it would be so much easier to have your students email you there assignments then have to carry around all those pappers. Also with computers you cant get papper cuts! and idk about you but i hate papper cuts!

well, writing by computer makes things much much easier, thats the truth..but it has its downs..because some people aent very good at typing on keyboards..and some people are more experienced with using their hands...but computers make typing for me much faster than writing by hand

writing by hand costs lead that you could be saving for something else..instead of wasting lead or ink you could easily go and type it up on the computer..plus writing by hand hurts some peoples hands..

so i think that typing is easier and more efficient...XD

Writing by computer is so much easier than wrighting by hand. When you wright by computer you can just push buttons, and when you wright by hand your hand gets tired. Yet the are both the same because they use energy and you could always mess up. On the computer you can just erase it by pressing the back space button, and when you wright by hand you have to us an eraser and it gets all messy. That is why I would rather want to wright by computer than by hand.

simmilarities could be that you are bassically doing the same thing. you are writing something and then sending it or handing it in or whatever.

there are many differences. with the computer it is eaiser and not as painfull if you type for awhile versus writing. when writing u can be all hunched over trying to write and when at a computer u just look at the screen or the keybored and it is just much eaiser. also when u are writing and u dont know how to spell something, you have to go and look it up. when typing all u have to so is pell check. in my opinion i would rather type a paper the write it out.

There are very many differences and simularities between writing by hand and using the computer.First of all the computer is more effective. Also it takes little time. But for writing you might not be able to read that pesons handwriting and it may be all scribledout and have stains on it.Also while you are writing it takes for ever becuase, spell check making it neat, and some people do it over.Although they do have simularities.Like they both include a strong vocabulary. Also a good imagination and a strong sence of creativity and good gramar.

By the way I prefer typing on a computer because,it is much easier and faster than writing it out by hand.

Writing by hand and on the computer has many similarities and differences. When you type on the computer you go way faster and you don't have to erase all the time whenever you mess up. But on the otherhand if you write on paper you have to take out a sheet of paper and start writing and if you mess up and your writing in pen (like many students do) you may have to start over. They both share the same similarities because you are writing the same thing, its just that on a piece of paper you hand it in and on the computer you just type it up send it and it's done. Also if you care about the enviroment and don't want those people cutting down the tree's don't waste the paper.

There are some similarities between writing your blog by hand or computor. A couple of them are, they both are getting the assignment done. Also you still have the same topic your wrtiing about, the topic does not change.
But also there are many differneces. Like writing by hand for me takes longer because you have to erase where you messed up and on the computor you only have to backspace. On the paper you can get your idias out faster and you probably catch your mistakes faster then you do on the computor.

There aren't many similarities with writing by computer and writing by hand. However, some things they have in common is you're both using your hand(s) to write down whatever you're thinking. They're both ways to communicate: by writing letters and IMing people. You can express yourself by both writing and typing.

Yet, typing and writing on a sheet of paper have their differences. When typing, you can use a backspace and whatever you're writing is much neater than having a bunch of eraser marks or scribbles. Also, when you type, your fingers don't (normally) hurt as much as when you write with a pencil or pen. When using a computer to type, you can go on Google or Ask to look up a word that you might want to use. But when you're writing, you have to think of it off your mind.

When writing by hand, if your handwriting is not legible, then that could be a problem for the reader. But on the computer, depending on which font you use, I suppose, it's much easier for the reader to read what you wrote. Typing on the computer seems to be happening a lot now-a-days, but most kids' spelling and grammar isn't as good as it is on paper. Normally, on the computer kids type "u = you; 2 = to, two, too; b = be", but you don't see that often in their writing.

Those are the many differences between writing by computer and writing by hand.

HI MRS.DEMBINSKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Writing and typing are similar because when you do them you get the same results. They are also both good ways to blog or communicate. Although they are also different. Typing is a lot faster and is more ledgible while writing takes abou twice the time and can turn out sloppy. Typing can also be sent faster through the internet. While writing it could take days to send the message you want.

Anonymous said...

There is a small difference between writing and typing. Typing is much neater and faster but writing is improves your reflexes and you dont't need a computer to do it so you can basically do it anywhere. I think when I am typing I can find make mistakes easier too. Typing is also eco-friendly. In conclusion I would say typing is slightly better than writing.

Technology has developed so much over the years. Today we have the choice of writing by hand or typing on the computer. Both the computer and writing by hand are getting thoughts down on paper. They can also store memorys or data.

Not only are they similar but there also drifferent. One of them uses a paper and pencil Whereas the computer uses a keybord and a mouse. The computer has a fewer easier tools one of them is spell cheak, witch you can't use on paper. Also many people have bad handwritting or are not able to read someone elses handwriting, Well computer make all the letter very neat.

writing by hand or typing with your computer have many similarities and differences. some of the similarities is first they both of them writing and they do our homework and we use it on the blog.the differences are the computer use electricity but the hand you use hand power.

Writing by a computer and writing by hand have much similarities. Writing on etheir one you is amost the same because you get your ideas writin down, both accomplish a task that needs to be writin.

Writing by a computer and writing by hand also have alot of differences such as using a computer you get access to a big variety of fonts and sizes. If writing by hand your stuck with you hand writing and size. Useing a computer you can spell check and get the information writin down faster. Writing by hand is slower and could get anoying after writing to much because you hand could get tired. Thats some of the many differences in writing on computer or by hand.

js400 said...

The computer and the good old fashioned paper and pencil I like them both but the have many differences such as the pencil and the paper can sometimes become a tad bit messy. A computer on the other hand has a wonderful setup and prints out nice and neat. Writing by hand leaves you guessing if you may have spelt a few words incorrectly or made a any grammatical errors. The computer has the almighty spell check which lets you know if you made any errors and gives you the option to fix it. In my opinion it takes longer to type somethingf then it does to write it because some people may not be as fast as others when typing. When typing an assignment you may run out of ink, I doubt that someone would run out of paper and pencil when in the home because a pencil and paper are common household items but in these days computers are becoming a household item but nevertheless. When writing by hand everthing is so simple and all aspects tend to cooperate. When typing things get complicated and sometimes do not prefer to tend to your needs.
typing and writing by hand also have similarities such as the both can be neat and tidy. They both can have mistakes made on them. Both writing by hand and typing are used in associatiation with your mind. Typing and writing are both ways to show literacy. Writing and typing are also ways of communicating. I prefer to write something by hand but sometimes I prefer something typed up and perfect. As you can see typing and writing by hand have many similarities and differences.
